ANNUAL TRUNK OR TREAT ON THE SQUARE
The City of Charlestown will not be holding a trunk-or-treat event on the square this year. The Health Department has advised against large gatherings and the hand-to-hand transfer of items, and while we understand this annual tradition is important to the community, we must be diligent in our efforts to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
TRADITIONAL TRICK OR TREATING
No restrictions have been placed on our community by the City of Charlestown regarding traditional trick or treating on October 31st, which usually occurs between the hours of 6-9 pm. Individuals are advised to exercise precautions and use their best judgement when deciding whether to hand out candy or trick-or-treat.
With all of the uncertainty surrounding us this Fall related to COVID-19, the Charlestown Parks Department has decided to shift directions in order to ensure the annual Halloween fun continues - but in a way that allows for more social distancing, and less hand-to-hand distribution of candy. We've unfortunately had to cancel many of our Spring and Summer events - and while the Fall and Winter may look a little different, we remain committed to being creative and adaptable to ensure that we're doing as much as possible to provide programming in a safe and responsible way.
Charlestown's first annual Monster Mash Halloween Bash parade will kick off on Saturday, October 17th at 6:00 pm. The Parade will travel from the Charlestown High School Parking lot, down Park Street and onto Market, where it will turn again onto Main and end on the Charlestown Square. Families are encouraged to get creative and dress in their Halloween best, and line Market Street to check out the floats and collect candy.
Social distancing between families and the wearing of masks while in the proximity of others, and while traveling to and from your spot on the parade route is highly encouraged.
After the parade, be sure to join us at the Charlestown State Park at 8:00 pm for a drive-in movie double feature! Get your snacks and get settled in, and enjoy Casper's Halloween Special, followed by Hocus Pocus.
More specifics coming soon! Be sure to follow the Facebook event via this link for updates, and check back again for details. Questions? Email , or call 812-256-3422.
